A new members only bar and restaurant, Vudu Lounge, opened in York last Thursday in what turned out to be a wonderful night. The décor is warm and relaxing, the staff is friendly and helpful and the whole atmosphere of Vudu Lounge is refreshingly unique. There was something kind of nice in knowing that everyone there was a member and you’re all in the same club together. One has to wonder if this is the future of downtown drinking, and whether customers are more inclined to behave more courteously when they are personally associated with the bar they are drinking in? It certainly seemed so at the grand opening.

The Vudu Lounge feels like a new step forward in bar culture, a sort of trendy bar with all the special service you’d expect with a feeling of being part of something together, without being too snooty and exclusive like a gentleman’s club for instance. The Vudu Lounge is very modern yet stylish with an ambience that has not as yet been seen in York until now.
