If you are coming to stay in York from another country there are various places you may wish to arrive, depending on which country you are coming from and your departure airport, ferry port or train station. For example you may fly to London Heathrow; from there you need to get a train or taxi to London King’s Cross train station and take a 1 hour 45 minute high-speed train ride directly to York.

Some visitors to York, from America for example, prefer to fly to Manchester Airport because the train station is actually inside the airport when you arrive in England, you can hop on a train at Manchester Airport and go directly to York on the 2 hour long train journey. If you are flying from certain European countries you may wish to arrive at Leeds/Bradord Airport, which is only 20 minutes away from York. Other airports you may want to consider are the new Doncaster airport (20 minutes by train from York) and Newcastle Airport, which is an hour away from York by train and, like Manchester Airport, has the train station actually at the airport.
